Q. What is Beachwood First Aid Squad Inc?
A. Beachwood First Aid Squad Inc. is a volunteer Emergency Medical Service that serves the residents of Beachwood and Pine Beach. We provide timely, efficient, and professional pre-hospital emergency care and transportation of the sick, wounded or injured at no cost to the individual.
Q. When do you provide coverage?
A. This service is provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Q. Does BFAS do anything else?
A. In addition, we provide standby coverage for most major events in the local community including events such as 4th of July Fireworks on the Toms River and the Annual Pine Beach 5k Run.
Q. Do I need to be certified before I join?
A. No - No experience is required to join BFAS! We can provide all required training.
Q. Are there any qualifications I need to be a member?
A. Yes, and they are!
1. Be willing to abide by the rules and by-laws of the Squad.
2. Be 18 years of age or older.
3. Be an EMT or be willing to become an EMT.
4. Be over 21 to drive the Ambulance.
5. Be a resident within a 5 mile radius for at least 3 months.
6. Be willing to respond to at least 4 first aid calls per month.
7. Attend one meeting and one drill a month.
8. Agree to cover one Duty (12 hour shift) 6a to 6p or 6p to 6a per week.
9. Serve on an administrative committee during your active membership.
10. Be willing to assist in other squad functions such as standby’s, work
details, parades and fundraisers.
Q. Can I join the squad if I’m not 18?
A. Yes! If you are between the ages of 14 and 18, you can become a member of the cadet corps. Click here for more information.
Q. How do I join?
A. You must first download and print the application from here. Once you fill it out, contact the Membership Chairman (the contact number will be on the application).
